Hi to our FIRST Tech Challenge Teams and volunteers in Pennsylvania,
We have two special OUTREACH opportunities that Pennsylvania FIRST Robotics is planning on supporting, however what is really necessary is TEAM support!
We love getting the FIRST name and mission out to the public and know our teams have a blast participating as well. FIRST has always been told it is the “best kept secret” with regards to STEM education. We endeavor to change that and look forward to you joining in. As we work with these entities in planning the events, we want to see if we can gain commitment from you, our honored teams. So here they are:
Saturday, September 25th, 2021 – STEM night at Lancaster Barnstormers Baseball Game
The Lancaster Barnstormers are an American professional baseball team based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. They are a member of the North Division of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, a “partner league” of Major League Baseball. They play in Clipper Magazine Stadium located just outside of central Lancaster city.
STEM day is actually a totally FIRST Robotics Day, no other entities are planned. We will take over portions of the mezzanine both under cover as well as outside in the outfield where we hope to have a contingent of FRC, FTC and FLL (all three programs) participating. So please spread the word and let us know ASAP if you would like to join us in celebrating what FIRST is all about to the thousands of fans expected to attend the game. This is the second time that FIRST FTC local teams are participating but we want to spread the joy among all programs. Space and tables as well as special accommodations for the teams will be provided. Please RSVP to ftc@pennfirst.org.
Saturday, October 2nd: 10am-5pm and Sunday October 3rd: 10am-4pm – ROBOSTOCK 2021
This is a two-day FREE hands-on STEM extravaganza planned and hosted by the Eastern Pennsylvania Robotics Alliance (EPRA) who provide FIRST Robotics Programming in Partnership with 4H of Delaware County and The Girl Scouts of Eastern PA. There are over 7,000 individuals from the general public expected to attend. The first RobotStock was held in September 2019 and was an incredible show for FTC and the other programs. FRC is even planning scrimmages for the day. We hope that we can get many FTC Teams to participate as well. We will set up two fields for demonstration purposes. Robotstock will be held at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA.
One special request. We know that we will be a couple of weeks into the new FTC Freight Frenzy season however we would like I teams that do participate in demonstrations potentially retain the functionality of this past season’s ULTIMATE GOAL robot as nothing is more exciting than flipping rings around when promoting the awesomeness of FTC. Also, if teams can provide simple bots for the spectators (especially kids) to drive that would be awesome. In your response, please let me know what resources you would plan to provide. Any time of day or either day your team can support this is great!
